If you own a BYD in Thailand, one of the first decisions after buying the car is whether to install a 7kW home EV charger.

A wallbox can make charging extremely convenient, but it is not automatically necessary for every BYD owner.

When Does a 7kW Wallbox Make Sense?

A 7kW wallbox is a good option if you:

Own a house with private parking
Drive your BYD every day
Want faster home charging
Prefer a permanent charging point
Have an electrical system suitable for the installation

For a BYD model that supports up to 7kW AC charging, a 7kW charger can make good use of the vehicle's onboard charging capability. Current Thailand specifications for models such as the Dolphin, ATTO 3, and SEAL list 7kW Type 2 AC charging.

When Is a Portable Charger Better?

A BYD portable charger may be more practical if you:
